Tell us a little about you and your beloved: Izak and I had been dating for almost 2 years when we decided to take a vacation to his home country of South Africa in 2014. I knew it was going to be a special trip since it would be the first time I got to meet his friends, extended family, and to see the place where the love of my life grew up. Little did I know, he had even bigger plans up his sleeve.
Months before our trip Izak sought out a family friend and jewelry designer in South Africa to create my engagement ring. As we were touring Johannesburg we met her for lunch and she secretly passed the ring off to Izak. When the day came for him to pop the question he had enlisted a lovely older couple who ran the bed and breakfast we were staying at to prepare a picnic basket with all the accompaniments.
That afternoon, picnic basket in hand, we were off to what I thought was a relaxing afternoon on the beach. Once we got there Izak seemed more stressed than normal. He wanted to take a picture in a perfect spot, I should have been tipped off at this point since pictures aren’t usually his thing, but I followed him to multiple spots before he found the one.
He set up a camera to take a picture and as I was getting ready for the photo there he was on one knee asking me to be his wife.
What was the most amazing part of your day? The ceremony was so magical. The butterflies you get when you love someone was the feeling we got at that exact moment seeing eachother for the first time.
What else would you like to share about your big day? We tried our very best to implement things that were special to us to share with our loved ones. We made our favorite sangria from our favorite restaurant to be served at cocktail hour. Izak also DJ’s for fun so he got on the decks and played our favorite songs (a surprise to me). Our bridal party and groomsmen really went out of their way to make everything run smooth. We couldn’t have been happier to have them by our side.

Any advice you’d give to our readers who are planning their weddings right now? Our biggest piece of advice is to go with the venue’s preferred vendors. Everything went exactly as planned because every vendor knew exactly where to be and when. It made for a perfect stress free day.
Anything that you would have done differently if you were given the chance? We wish we would have enjoyed eating the food and desserts we spent months planning for. You get so caught up in the moment and people you forget to eat.
